About The Foundation

The Jack McGovern Coats Disease Foundation (JMCDF) funds research to find a cure for Coats Disease and pediatric retinal Disease. JMCDF was founded in 2006 by the parents of Jack McGovern as a promise to their son that they would never rest until there was a cure for Coats Disease. Our work with NORD and Genentech are beginning to make a difference, and we are increasing awareness about treatment options and resources. Through the generous efforts of our volunteers, we are able to keep our administrative fees at a minimum so we can focus our funds towards research.

To date we have raised over $150,000 to provide grants to the San Francisco Retina Foundation to fund a conference of retinal specialists as well as to Dr. Michael Trese for his ground breaking research towards finding a cure. Today, we seek those researchers and clinicians who will apply for a foundation grant to further their work towards helping those with Coats and seeking treatments and ultimately a cure for this blinding disease.
