Scott McCrady

Scott has been a member of CAN since its inception and has brought to life one of our newest endeavors, the Coats'-to-Coats' Mentor Program. Scott's ideas are endless and his humor is one of the best parts of the CAN meetings. We are so thankful to Scott's leadership and volunteerism!

We caught up with Scott to learn more about him and why the Coats' Ambassador Network is important to him...

I am a Coats' Patient. I was diagnosed with Coats’ disease when I was 5 years old when I couldn’t pass my elementary school eye exam.

I joined the CAN group to help families and patients realize that this disease should never hold them back from doing the things that make them happy. I want to share my stories and my life with the world.

My hope for CAN is to provide valuable resources to families and patients to get the support they need for the future and to show Coats' is something to be proud of and not hide from.

𝐖𝐡𝐨 𝐢𝐧𝐬𝐩𝐢𝐫𝐞𝐬 𝐲𝐨𝐮?
I am inspired by my brother, mom, and late father to live life to the fullest and never let anything hold you back. They have always been supportive and even when times get tough with a rare disease, they inspired me to never let it hold me back.

𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭’𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐛𝐨𝐮𝐭 𝐲𝐨𝐮 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐦𝐚𝐧𝐲 𝐩𝐞𝐨𝐩𝐥𝐞 𝐤𝐧𝐨𝐰?
I travel around the world for work. I have been to five out of the seven continents, visiting more than 12 countries and counting!
