Board Member and Coats' Patient, Gary Brickley, Leads the Charge for the Cure Coats' 5K!

The Jack McGovern Coats’ Disease Foundation's annual Cure Coats' 5K is taking place later this month. The In-Person event is being held at a new location - Golden Gate Park - on Saturday, June 21. This kicks off the weeklong Virtual Cure Coats' 5K, which runs from June 21 - June 28. Participants across the globe will all be lacing up for a cure!

Now in it's 8th year, this event is especially meaningful for Gary Brickley, who serves as Race Director. A San Francisco native, Coats’ Disease patient, Foundation Board Member, and owner of Brickley Production Services, Gary brings both a personal and professional commitment to raising awareness for this rare retinal disease. Diagnosed in adulthood, Gary understands firsthand the challenges of living with Coats’ Disease — and is using his platform to bring visibility and  hope to others living with Coats’ Disease.

“Coats’ Disease affects more than just your eyesight — living with a rare eye condition like Coats' becomes a part of  your everyday life,” said Brickley. “As someone living with Coats’ Disease, it’s incredibly powerful to be part of an  event that brings our community together and pushes research forward to find a cure.”

The Cure Coats’ 5K supports the Jack McGovern Coats’ Disease Foundation’s mission to find a cure for Coats’ Disease. This event provides an opportunity for patients, families, and supporters to unite — whether in person or from afar — to advance the search for a cure.
