The 2026 Cure Coats’ 5K brought together patients, families, friends, and supporters from across the United States and Canada to raise awareness and funds for Coats’ Disease research. With record in-person participation in San Francisco and virtual events spanning multiple states and provinces, the Coats’ Disease community demonstrated the power of connection, hope, and collective action in the pursuit of a cure.

As a result of the efforts of a volunteer in the San Diego area who successfully petitioned to have San Diego proclaim August 17 as Coats' Disease Awareness Day (the first city to do so), Jack McGovern was recently interviewed on the radio program "Living Better in San Diego"
