Cure Coats’ 5K Brings Together Community Across the Globe

The Jack McGovern Coats’ Disease Foundation celebrates another successful Cure Coats’ 5K this year, as families, friends, patients, caregivers, and supporters gather both in person and virtually between June 20 and June 27, 2026, to raise funds for Coats’ Disease research, raise awareness, and expand patient resources and support.

The in-person event, held on June 20 in San Francisco’s Golden Gate Park, welcomed an even larger turnout than last year, creating a vibrant atmosphere filled with excitement, encouragement, and hope. Participants of all ages came together to walk, run, and celebrate the strength of the Coats’ Disease community. From longtime supporters to first-time participants, the event showcased the power of a community united by a common goal: finding a cure for Coats’ Disease.

The Foundation extends its sincere gratitude to Gary Brickley and Brickley Productions for their outstanding support and event production expertise. Special thanks also go to the many volunteers whose hard work ensured a smooth and successful event, as well as to our generous sponsors whose support helps make events like the Cure Coats’ 5K possible.

While the in-person event was a tremendous success, the impact of the Cure Coats’ 5K extends far beyond San Francisco. The weeklong virtual event kicked off with participants hosting walks, runs, and gatherings in communities across the United States, including Virginia, Alabama, California, South Carolina, Massachusetts, Indiana, Utah, and Pennsylvania.

Additional virtual events are planned throughout the week in Missouri, South Dakota, Tennessee, North Carolina, Maryland, Illinois, Louisiana, Maine, Colorado, Texas, Michigan, New York, and across Canada in Ontario, British Columbia, and Yukon. Together, these events demonstrate the global reach and growing momentum of the Coats’ Disease community.

"We are thrilled to see so many families and friends come together for this year's Cure Coats’ 5K," said Sarah Kopac, Executive Director of the Jack McGovern Coats’ Disease Foundation. "The energy, enthusiasm, and support demonstrated throughout the day remind us why this community is so special."

Every step taken during the Cure Coats’ 5K helps advance the Foundation’s mission to fund research, raise awareness, and provide resources for patients and families affected by Coats’ Disease.
