Success and Impact at Advances in Pediatric Retina 2025!
The Jack McGovern Coats’ Disease Foundation was proud to serve as a Bronze Sponsor of the Advances in Pediatric Retina (APR) 2025 conference, held at Duke University in September. Thanks to the support and leadership of Dr. ME Hartnett and Dr. Lejla Vajzovic, co-directors of the APR, a portion of our sponsorship was dedicated to education grants for early-career doctors—an initiative that brought 16 grant recipients from the US and around the world to the conference. Our sponsorship also helped fund several presentations, including at least two focused on Coats’ Disease.
Our presence at the conference was a resounding success. The Foundation received strong recognition throughout the event, with many physicians already familiar with the Foundation and eager to learn more about our programs. At our booth, we highlighted the education and research grant opportunities, the International Doctor Directory, and the International Coats’ Patient Registry.
To further engage attendees, we shared outreach materials inviting doctors to join the Doctor Directory and offer Foundation resources with their Coats’ patients. These efforts paid off - more than 35 doctors were added to the directory, and many agreed to distribute our MCDF brochures and fact sheets to their patients!
We were also thrilled to have Jack McGovern in attendance, who drew great interest at our booth and co-moderated a well-received Coats’ Disease panel with Dr. Hartnett.
Supporting APR 2025 was an excellent way for the Foundation to raise awareness, strengthen relationships, and expand our connections within the pediatric retina community.
